19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback the Russian player claimed his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has experienced a challenging year, managing just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in specific - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-term coach his previous coach.

Now training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial championship after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface since that period of 2023.

Success also signifies he has secured 21 victories at 21 different events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my two daughters together, so to secure a trophy is really nice," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six finals, including in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive play style and regular reactions on court had caused some to question if his skill to play at the elite level was concluded.

But the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and perform assertively, backed up by an better serving game.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged break points in the second set before the challenger, striving for his first professional championship, took control to push for a decider.

He defended four early-game break points in a tight deciding set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner clinched the win with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
